In short

A power (and sometimes data) outlet set into the floor — common under desks and island tables.

Floor sockets sit in a floor box with a lid flush to the finished floor. Handy in open layouts where you do not want cables trailing from the wall.

Plan them before screeding or flooring. Moving a floor box later is messy and expensive.
