GlossaryElectricalSpur

Spur

Distribution Protection · Also: Fused spur, Socket spur

In short

An extra socket or FCU branched off an existing ring or radial circuit.

Notes

A spur is a branch from an existing circuit rather than a brand-new run back to the DB. Useful for adding one more point — within wiring-regulation limits.

Do not keep spurring off spurs casually; the electrician should confirm the circuit design still complies.
