GlossaryElectricalSwitched socket
Switched socket
Sockets · Also: Switched power point
In short
A socket with an on/off rocker so you can cut power without unplugging.
Notes
Most Singapore power points are switched — each outlet has its own rocker switch. Handy for lamps, chargers, and appliances you want off at the wall.
Unswitched sockets exist but are less common in homes. If you need always-on power (some network gear, fridges), confirm with the electrician rather than assuming.
